Here Comes Floratone II

“Floratone II” by Bill Frisell, Matt Chamberlain, Lee Townsend, and Tucker Martine

So, Bill Frisell’s been my favorite guitarist for quite some time. He’s back again with the improvisation-group-jam-project, Floratone.

I would love to sit in on these sessions. I’d sit in a corner and drool and they wove this magic.

Here’s how the first Floratone went down:

Yep. And here’s Bill Frisell with Nels Cline:

Speaking of Nels Cline, here he is with Wilco taking care of some business:

Yeah this one’s possibly my favorite guitar jam/solo in recent history. Wonderful.

Beautiful rhythmic dual guitars. Not much to say about it. It speaks for itself.

Gone Just Like a Train

Gone Just Like a Train

“Gone Just Like a Train” by Bill Frisell

For many years now, Bill Frisell has taken first seat in my list of great guitarists. He’s one of the most unique and interesting musicians out there. And this 1998 album sealed my fate as a fan.

It’s an instrumental album by the trio Bill Frisell, Jim Keltner, and Viktor Krauss. A guitarist, a drummer, and a bass player.  Bill Frisell had already started his journey into Americana by this point. And it’s this album where the blend between his jazz perfection background and his new rural leanings gels. Perfectly.

It’s an album to lose yourself in. To get saturated in. And, if you’re intrigued by the album cover, to find soundtracks to strange animated stories.

Speaking of Bill Frisell…
