“The Arrival” by Shaun Tan
The Arrival is probably the most beautiful book I own. If I could encourage you to buy it (and you did), I could end this post right here. But you’re not going to buy it based on my insistence, are you?
So, here are some images and some things the author/illustrator said.

So, The Arrival is an immigrant story, a story about a family, a story about friends. It’s a personal journey, a catalog of memory, an expression of empathy. The level of depth with which Shaun Tan uses imagery is profound.

And the more I learn about The Arrival, the more I love it. It’s quite simply the way people should create stories. Not meaning without words, but with soul.

And it looks like it will make a brilliant stage play:
Seriously, you need to buy this book.
At a price like this, I really can’t see a reason why you shouldn’t order this book right now. Seriously. Please buy it. It’s that beautiful.
